Although a little early, we would like to wish you all a very happy Easter
and to send a warm welcome to new residents of Badgers Mount.
We
also extend our condolences to the families of Margaret Tutt and John
Asmus who passed away recently. Margaret was a member of the committee for
many years and also served on Shoreham Parish Council.

Annual BMRA Subscriptions
As agreed at the 2012
AGM subscription charges have this year increased to £2 per member with a
maximum payable of £4 per household. This still represents good value for
money when you consider, amongst other things, the increase in printing
costs of newsletters which are delivered at least four times per year.
You will notice that the committee has considerably reduced in number.
This makes collection of subscriptions a more onerous task for those who
remain, some of whom have full time work commitments. As a result of this,
it has been decided that we will try to collect subscriptions in an
alternative way this year. There are three options available:
(1)
If you use internet banking you can make a payment via the BACS system.
This is quite straightforward. You will need the following details to make
your payment:
Account name: Badgers Mount Residents Association Account number:
01321247 Sort Code: 30-97-49
PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU PUT YOUR
NAME, HOUSE NAME/NUMBER & ROAD IN THE REFERENCE BOX PROVIDED so that we
know who is paying us!! (Roads can be abbreviated to their initials if you
wish)
(2) Payment via the envelope attached to this Newsletter. Please ensure
that you write your name and address on the envelope. We have arranged a
number of drop off points for subscriptions. They are:
Tracey
McCartney, Sett Point, Highland Road Tina Bennett, 6 Crest Close
Eric Raven, Oakdale, Orpington Bypass, (next to the footpath to Old London
Road) Christine Donovan, Lyndhurst, Badgers Road (opposite Johnsons
Avenue) Karen Lagarde, Badgers Mount House, Highland Road Stephen
Salmon, Wildwood, Milton Avenue June Begg, 8 Badgers Rise April
Wentzell, 1 Sandersons Avenue Lorna Luck, 3 Woodlands View Joan
Neave, 26 Old London Road Thursday coffee mornings in the Memorial
Hall.
(3) If you are unable to pay via your bank or drop off the
envelope please telephone Gordon (534279) or email the Secretary at the
email address previously given and we will arrange collection from you.
SUBSCRIPTIONS ARE DUE FOR PAYMENT BY THE 31ST MARCH 2013 PLEASE
Website address change
Please note that the BMRA
website address has changed as detailed overleaf. For the time being if
you use the old address you will automatically be re-directed to the
website.
Appeal to KCC for safety improvements on our roads
You may have noticed the traffic counter and speed monitors placed on
the Bypass and Old London Road recently. These were used to ascertain the
current traffic situation on these roads following our
appeal for safety
improvements on both roads.
Following receipt of the results of the
traffic survey, KCC are now discussing the possibility of a reduction of
speed on the Orpington Bypass to 50 mph (we asked for 40mph but this is
not felt feasible). Improved signage on the Bypass should be installed
soon and KCC are still considering other possibilities. We will update you
when we have further information.
Winter Weather update
We
would like to extend a huge thanks to all residents who cleared snow from
pathways and roads recently, particularly at the junction of Badgers Road
with the Orpington Bypass enabling everyone to use the roads safely.
Regular checks are carried out to ensure that salt bins are stocked
ready for use in icy conditions. Please remember that we do not have
limitless supplies of salt and it should be used economically where
possible.
BADGERS MOUNT PARISH COUNCIL UPDATE
A working
party has now had preliminary meetings to start investigating the process
of forming our Parish Council. We will shortly be having a meeting with
Sevenoaks District Council and a further update on all Parish Council
matters will be prepared and delivered in due course and also given at the
AGM in May.
A Parish Council clerk will need to be employed and
involved in the set up of the Council prior to the first elections in May
2015. The working party is unsure of what is expected of the Clerk at the
preliminary stage, more will be known in due course.
If you would
be interested in becoming a Clerk please telephone or email our Secretary,
Tracey (details given previously) to register your interest.
SHOREHAM PARISH COUNCIL UPDATE
The Annual Parish Meeting for
parishioners and community organisations will be held on 24th April, and
the Annual Council Meeting will be held in on 1st May, both in Shoreham
Village Hall.
These events are open to all residents, as are all
parish council meetings and you are welcome to attend.
WATERCROFT
WOODS
You may be aware that the Watercroft Woods site is for sale.
The Plymouth Brethren have expressed an interest in buying the site for a
meeting hall and associated car park with the possibility of leaving the
ancient woodland part of the site as a community area. This group is
awaiting a meeting with SDC to discuss possibilities for the site.
Following this, the group propose to give a presentation to Shoreham
Parish Council and possibly to Badgers Mount residents. You will be
advised of any progress in this matter.
SPEEDING VEHICLES ON
POLHILL ROUNDABOUT
There have been a number of incidents involving
vehicles speeding around the Polhill Roundabout late at night. The issue
was brought to the attention of the Sevenoaks Community Safety Unit and if
you become aware of this happening please report this to ‘101’ so that the
Police can try to apprehend those involved in this anti-social and
potentially dangerous activity.
