Welcome to our Summer Newsletter and to all new residents of Badgers Mount.

COMMITTEE NEWS

At our AGM on 10th May the existing Committee was re-elected together with two new members who were warmly welcomed – Eric Raven and Brian Modlock both from the Orpington By-Pass.

The Barn Dance held in April was thoroughly enjoyed by those who attended and some have asked if we could run another of these in the not too distant future.

MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING

On THURSDAY, 27TH SEPTEMBER, the regular coffee morning will again be extended form 10am to 12.30pm to take part in the Macmillan Cancer Support ‘Worlds Largest Coffee Morning’ in the Memorial Hall. As last year, there will be stalls selling cakes, produce, bric-a-brac etc. All contributions of items for sale will be welcome, either before the day to the normal coffee mornings or to Gordon Plumb (534279), or bring them along on the day. Everyone is invited to support this worthy cause, and we hope we can improve on last year’s donation of £160.

OLD TIME MUSIC HALL EVENING

By popular request we are holding another Old Time Music Hall Evening. We have booked Marie Kelly again for SATURDAY, 13TH OCTOBER 2007 starting at 7.30 p.m. Tickets (including buffet) will cost £5 each, but please bring own drinks and glasses. Tickets will be available at the Thursday Coffee Mornings or from Gordon Plumb (534279). All ages are welcome to attend, please feel free to invite your friends and family.

NEW YEARS EVE PARTY

Although a little in advance, the Hall has been booked for the annual New Year celebration on 3lst December 2007 – please put this event on your calendar so you don’t miss out!

PLANNING NEWS

The only significant recent planning application has been by Asprey Homes Ltd for 8 B1 industrial units (offices) on the land at the rear of Fox’s Garage, Old London Road. If approved, this could provide some local employment and maintain the business use of the site. While the design does not appear to be too unreasonable for a small office block, it is higher than adjacent houses. Our main concern, which has been raised with Sevenoaks District Council, is that car parking appears to be inadequate.

PARENTS & TODDLERS GROUP

We were recently asked by a resident whether there was a local group for parents & babies/toddlers to meet. Unfortunately, there is not in Badgers Mount but a new group will be starting on Monday mornings (term time only) from 10th September at Halstead Community Primary School, Otford Lane, Halstead between 9.30 and 11.30 am. All parents, carers, babies & toddlers are welcome – for further details please contact Tina Ballard on 01689 817030.
