Road. Further details will be given in our April newsletter but please put
this on your calendar. New committee members are always welcome and if you

SOCIAL EVENTS
Carols Evening
The pre-Christmas Carols celebration was enjoyed by all those who
attended.
New Years Eve Party
The Barn Dance, organised by special request following success in the
previous year, was enjoyed by the small number of people who attended. We
hope that if another New Year party is organised this year, more people
will take advantage of this very enjoyable occasion that is within walking
distance of home.
Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations
In conjunction with the Halstead village celebrations that you have been
notified of already, BMRA are proposing to hold their own event in the
afternoon of Saturday, 2nd June 2012 in the Memorial Hall, Highland Road.
Arrangements are being finalised as we write this and will be detailed in
our April newsletter and on the website in due course. Amongst the ideas
suggested are an afternoon tea party, games and fancy dress for children
and a ‘street party’/barbeque. If you have any ideas, comments or would
like to assist us with this please get in touch with Eric or Tracey as
advised earlier in this newsletter.
PARKING ISSUES AT KNOCKHOLT STATION
We are aware of the concerns of Badgers Rise residents following
implementation of the pay and display parking outside of Knockholt
Station. SDC will be reviewing the effects of this scheme shortly and we
have written to make residents feelings known. We will advise on the
outcome of this in due course.
SHOREHAM PARISH COUNCIL
Notice Boards
Three new notice boards have been ordered for Badgers Mount. Two will be
installed in the wooden bus shelters in Old London Road and the third in
Highland Road shortly. These will provide an additional source of village
information. Please remember to check for notices regularly.
Parish Council Meetings
Badgers Mount has three Councillors on Shoreham Parish Council. Dates and
venues of Council meetings can be found on the Parish Council notice board
at the top of the Foxs Garage footpath or on the Shoreham Parish Council
website, a link is provided from our own website to this. It would be good
to see more Badgers Mount residents at these meetings. There is always a
public question time session and you can also comment on individual
planning applications during the Planning Committee meetings.
Salt Bins
These have been replenished in anticipation of bad weather but so far have
not been needed. The salt is provided for use on roads, not private
driveways.
Broadband Survey
There is a link from our website to a KCC Broadband Survey which SPC have
asked as many residents to complete as possible. Please see
bmra.info for further details.

FOXS GARAGE, ORPINGTON BYPASS
The garage has a new owner who has applied for planning permission to give
the building a complete facelift to use it for car sales and servicing.
You can view details of this application on the SDC planning portal.
Neither the Residents Association nor SPC are objecting to this
application as it is felt that this will be a great improvement on the
existing building.
SPEED LIMIT ON POLHILL
Kent Highways will shortly be reducing the speed limit on the A224 between
the Polhill and Morants Court Roundabouts (the Dunton Green end of
Polhill) to 50 miles per hour in the interests of safety.
SPEED LIMIT ON VILLAGE ROADS
We would respectfully remind residents that the speed limit on village
unadopted roads (Highland Road, Badgers Road, Johnsons Avenue & Milton
Avenue) is 20 miles per hour. It is noted that a number of drivers ignore
this.
F M CONWAY LTD
Public Inquiry
More than 30 very concerned residents attended the Inquiry hearing held
earlier this month in the SDC Council Chamber. The Inquiry Inspector
indicated that his decision will be known by the week commencing 5th March
2012. The BMRA sub-committee have worked extremely hard to put forward a
strong case against F M Conway Ltd’s appeal application.
If you would like to know more about the Inquiry proceedings please attend
the Drop In Surgery that the sub-committee are holding in the Memorial
Hall on FRIDAY, 27TH JANUARY between 7.00 and 8.30 pm.
A full update on our two village sites within the KCC Minerals & Waste
Development Framework Consultation, and other applications in relation to
the Chelsfield Ammunition Depot will be advised shortly in a separate
newsletter.
