FOXS GARAGE REDEVELOPMENT
REVISED APPLICATION
Sevenoaks District Council has received planning application No SE/08/00659/FUL
to demolish the existing buildings facing the Orpington Bypass and erect a
courtyard type development of 14 No. 3 & 4 bedroom houses with a central
entrance road between the two existing entrances access points from the
Orpington Bypass.
This is the most important development affecting Badgers Mount for many years,
and we believe that everyone should know about it and have an opportunity to
comment, not just those immediately adjacent to the site that have been notified
by Sevenoaks District Council.
The application can be seen on the SDC website – online planning applications,
or by visiting their offices.
There are 2 other opportunities to view the application and make your feelings
known:-
Wednesday 19th March – Shoreham Parish Council Planning Committee will be
meeting in Shoreham Village Hall at 8.00pm. Members of the public can let the
Council know their views in an open session at the start of discussions about
each application.
Thursday 20th March – Badgers Mount Residents Association will be holding an
open meeting in the Memorial Hall at 8.00pm. Copies of the application will be
available for inspection from 7.45pm.
Comments quoting the application number above must be received by SDC by 28th
March.

SOCIAL EVENTS
Marie Kelly entertained all who attended the Old Time Music Hall Evening held in
October 2007 and was much appreciated.
Our Christmas Carols & Social Evening was attended by 28 residents. Our Carol
Singing was harmoniously accompanied on the piano by Brian Shilling (St.
Margaret’s Church organist) and Christopher & Ben (grandsons of Albert & Daphne
Thomas) on the violin and flute. Warm mince pies, wine and Christmas readings by
Gordon Plumb, Pat Cash, Daphne Thomas, John Grint and Myra Marshall were enjoyed
by all.
The New Years Eve Party once again proved successful with 40 people in
attendance to see in the New Year. Our thanks go once again to Steve Eales for
providing the music.
We have no forthcoming social events planned at present. If you have any
suggestions for events as the weather improves please contact us by emailing us
via the website or speaking with any Committee member as listed on
www.badgersmount.net.
PLANNING
In November 2007 we held a special meeting with regard to the proposed
redevelopment of the Orpington Bypass section of the Fox’s Garage site. This was
attended by nearly 60 people and it was unanimously agreed by those present that
the proposal is unsuitable for Badgers Mount. Appropriate objections have been
made. The SDC target for determining this application is the end of January.
(FOXS Garage redevelopment News Archive)
Following a number of complaints concerning the containers on the existing
Garage forecourt a Lawful Development Certificate application has
retrospectively been submitted by the current owners. We will be objecting about
this eyesore and ask that they are removed promptly.
On the Old London Road part of the site, a revised application for offices has
been submitted. While this addresses some of the objections to the original
application it is still considered to be too large and has inadequate car
parking.
There have also been a number of applications for smaller extensions etc. over
the last couple of months.
WW2 HOME GUARD
We have recently received an email from Dave Burton who, with his parents, used
to live in Johnsons Avenue. He is trying to find information about the Home
Guard Battalion which was responsible for defence of Badgers Mount, Halstead &
Chelsfield. If anyone has information or contacts we will pass them on to him.
And finally…..please take time to read the notices in the new Noticeboard next
to the letter box in Badgers Road, which was provided by Shoreham Parish
Council. This is for anyone to use, not just the Residents Association.
